Use of antibiotics in livestock farming continues to decrease |
09/10/2017 |
Veterinary use of antibiotics decreased by 15% in 2016 compared with 2015. Compared with the reference year 2009, the decrease was more than 64%. In broiler farming in particular, a considerable reduction was realised. A low level of antibiotics use is important to avoid the development of resistance and the spread of resistent bacteria. In livestock farming, the use of antibiotics that are critical for human health care has been reduced to a minimum. Government policy that, since 2008, was aimed at reducing antibiotics use has been effective. |
