Dairy farming balance sheet at a high level |
22/12/2017 |
In November 2017, the balance sheet of an average dairy farm was 18,600 euros, almost 4,000 euros higher than the 10-year average for this month. Sow farming could not maintain its top-level standard. In November, the balance sheet was 7,500 euros lower than in 2016, but still well above the long-term average. For fattening pigs, the balance decreased by 2,500 euros compared to November 2016. The laying-hen sector had to cope with the Fipronil crisis, resulting in many companies being unable to meet demand. Due to the much higher egg price the balance sheet for a layer-hen farm with continuous production was 80,000 euros higher than in November last year. For broiler chicks, too, November saw a higher balance (+7,300 euros) than in 2016. However, in October the upward trend since March of this year came to a halt. |
