Price increases for eggs at farm and packing-station level have only moderate impact on consumer prices in October |
23/01/2018 |
The consumer price index (CPI) for eggs only increased moderately in November compared to October (+2). The increase in farm-gate price index and producer price index (PPI) for eggs was much stronger due to egg shortages: the Fipronil crisis meant many farms could not deliver.
The CPI for potatoes decreased in November; the CPI for bread, beef and pork also decreased slightly. For fresh fruit and fresh vegetables, the CPI increased by 1.5 percentage points.
The PPI for beef increased by almost four points in November. The PPIs for other products decreased, notably that for pork: almost -7 points.
At the level of the primary producer (farm gate), strong price decreases were recorded for pigs and potatoes (about -10 points). < |
