06/06/2018 |
In March, the average bread price for the consumer rose slightly compared to February (+ 0.5%). However, the other food products in the monitor were priced lower. For example, consumer prices for potatoes and fresh vegetables have even decreased by 5%. Farm-gate prices show a different trend. While for pork more than 9% less was paid than in February, most products had a higher farm-gate price. Examples are broilers (+2.8%) and dairy (+2.7%). Compared to March 2017, the largest changes in the farm-gate price are shown for potatoes (-57%) and pork (+46%). For these two products, consumer prices have changed significantly in the past year respectively by -15% and +15%. These are some of the results of the numerical update of the food price monitor. The base year has moved up from 2010 to 2015. Next month, the price developments in April will be explained in more detail in the content update. |
