18/12/2018 |
The farm-gate price developments of agricultural and horticultural products between 2017 and 2018 are very diverse and related to production circumstances and international market developments. As a result of this past summer's drought, some price increases of arable products are noteworthy, such as for wheat (+28%), ware potatoes (+50%) and onions (+110%). Almost across the board, there are lower prices in livestock farming, ranging from -5% for eggs and milk to -30% for piglets. In greenhouse horticulture, tomato prices are considerably lower (-11%) than in 2017, whereas those for chrysanthemums (+8%) and especially cucumbers (+37%) are actually higher. Also noteworthy is the price drop for apples (-28%) and pears (-16%). On the cost side, the purchase prices for natural gas and electricity and the prices of feed concentrates increased substantially. |
