Strong concentration in the north-western Netherlands

The flower bulb cultivation sector is highly concentrated in dune sand soil regions along the coast. Important centres for this sector include the northern sandy areas, the Dune and Bulb Region and the Kennemerland region. In addition, there are concentrated pockets of this sector in clay soils in western Friesland and in the region of the municipality of Noordoostpolder. Bulb cultivation elsewhere in the Netherlands is often on a contract basis.
