31/05/2023 |
The consumer price for vegetables increased by 10% in February and March. The prices of bread, eggs and fruit increased by between 3 and 4%. The prices of poultry meat, dairy and potatoes increased by 2% and the pork prices by more than 1%. Only the beef price remained stable. The price increases were mainly found in February, whereas March saw more stable prices. Consumer prices remain high.
Farm-gate and industry prices in the pork chain began a new advance in these two months. The industry price – the price supermarkets pay – increased by 16% due to less supply of meat. The farm-gate price, which is related to the industry price, increased by 20%. In the dairy chain, on the contrary, the industry price and the farm-gate price show a sharp decrease of respectively 6% and 16%. Those prices remain high and the decreases fit the seasonal pattern.
