Sharp drop in sector results for agriculture and horticulture after peak year 2017 |

In 2018 the terms of trade for the agricultural sector declined: the average selling prices did not increase at the same rate as the average prices for purchased goods and services. For the fourth consecutive year, there was a slight decline in productivity. These developments led to a decline in the Gross Value Added of the whole agricultural sector in 2018 by about 6% to more than 11 billion euros. The remaining income from agriculture and horticulture amounts to almost 3.5 billion euros, which is 17% less than in 2017. |
